Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis) Treatment
Degeneration of the common extensor tendon on the outside of the elbow.
Overview
What Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis) Actually Is
Despite the name, most patients with tennis elbow do not play tennis — it comes from gripping, lifting, and keyboard-and-mouse load. Ultrasound shows the exact portion of the tendon that is abnormal, and PRP placed into that tissue combined with progressive grip loading has good evidence behind it.
Also called: lateral epicondylalgia, lateral epicondylitis
Symptoms patients describe
- Pain on the outside of the elbow with gripping
- Pain lifting a coffee cup or a milk jug
- Tenderness over the bony point on the outside of the elbow
- Weak grip strength on that side
Diagnosis
How It's Confirmed Here
- 01
Hands-on exam
Each structure is loaded separately so the source is narrowed before any imaging is ordered.
- 02
Imaging review
Your existing films are reviewed independently by Dr. Hyzy — not just the outside report.
- 03
In-room ultrasound
Dynamic imaging while you move, so tissue quality and behavior are seen live.
- 04
Diagnostic guided injection
When more than one structure could be responsible, a targeted block confirms which one is.

FAQs
Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis) — Questions Patients Ask
Is PRP better than cortisone for tennis elbow?
For chronic cases, repeated cortisone can weaken the tendon while orthobiologics target repair. Short-term cortisone relief often reverses over a year.
