Wrist Ligament Injuries Treatment
Sprains and partial tears of the small stabilizing ligaments of the wrist.
Overview
What Wrist Ligament Injuries Actually Is
A wrist that never fully recovered from a fall onto an outstretched hand often has a ligament injury, most commonly the TFCC on the little-finger side or the scapholunate ligament. Dynamic ultrasound assesses these while the wrist moves, which static imaging cannot do.
Also called: TFCC injury, scapholunate sprain
Symptoms patients describe
- Pain on the little-finger side of the wrist with rotation
- Clicking with twisting motions
- Weak grip and pain pushing up from a chair
- Persistent symptoms after a fall onto the hand
Diagnosis
How It's Confirmed Here
- 01
Hands-on exam
Each structure is loaded separately so the source is narrowed before any imaging is ordered.
- 02
Imaging review
Your existing films are reviewed independently by Dr. Hyzy — not just the outside report.
- 03
In-room ultrasound
Dynamic imaging while you move, so tissue quality and behavior are seen live.
- 04
Diagnostic guided injection
When more than one structure could be responsible, a targeted block confirms which one is.
